Privacy Policy

Sidedoor helps people land coffee chats by finding professionals and their work emails on the user's behalf. This policy explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the choices you have, whether you use Sidedoor or you are a professional who may appear in it.
If you use Sidedoor
We collect your sign-in email (and your name, if you give it), your schools and employers, the fields, roles, locations and companies you tell us you want, and the people you ask us to find, with each person's status (found, drafted, sent, replied, bounced). We also record your credit balance and purchases.
We use this only to run the service: to find relevant people, hide your current employer, work out shared schools and employers, fill in your drafts, keep your tracker, and charge credits. We do not use it for advertising and we do not sell it.
We never connect to your inbox and never send email for you. You open each draft in your own email and send it yourself; we never receive the text of the emails you send.
Resumes you paste or upload (a PDF or text file) are read once, in memory, by simple rules (not an AI model) to pick out your schools, employers and city for the setup form. The resume itself is not stored.
After you delete your account we keep a one-way fingerprint (a hash) of your sign-in email, nothing else, so that free credits cannot be claimed twice. It cannot be turned back into your address.
If you are a professional who appears in Sidedoor
We hold only professional information: name, job title, company, city, education, work history and a work email address. We do not collect phone numbers, personal email addresses or home addresses, and we only show people located in the United States.
This information comes from a licensed business-data provider and from patterns in work email formats. We keep short-lived copies (about 7 days for profiles and 30 days for email addresses) so that repeated lookups don't need to be repeated.
You can ask us to remove you at any time at /remove. After you confirm by email, we stop showing you to everyone and hide your unsent contacts. We act on requests promptly and always within 30 days.
We limit how often any one person can be given to users: each person has their email unlocked by only a few users per month. Until then, search shows only a first name and last initial.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies only to keep you signed in. We use no advertising or analytics trackers, and our emails contain no tracking pixels.
Who we share data with
We use service providers to run Sidedoor: a hosting and database provider, a business-data provider for people and emails, an email delivery provider for our own messages (such as sign-in codes), and a payment processor for subscriptions. They may process data only for those purposes.
We may disclose information if the law requires it. We do not sell personal information.
Your choices and rights
You can export everything we hold about you and delete your account at any time from your Account page. Deleting removes your profile, contacts and credits immediately. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as access, correction or deletion; contact us and we will help.
We keep minimal records after deletion where the law requires it (for example, payment records) and a suppression record for anyone who asked to be removed, so they are not added again.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to personal data is limited by database rules so that users can see only their own records, and secrets are kept out of our code and logs. We log identifiers, not names, email addresses or email text.
